The Farmers
Brandon was born and raised in Pendleton County, KY where Nature's Harbor Farm is located. He has been involved with farming his whole life. His father raises beef cattle and until about 8 years ago, tobacco. He worked for several years as a welder before beginning his own farm with his wife Heather in 2006. He is particularly interested in raising the meat chickens, produce and herb production, and vermiculture.
I wasn't born on a farm but always felt like I belonged on one. I have always loved animals and thought living on a farm would be great but only since about 2005 considered it as a possible way to make a living. I majored in Biology and Chemistry in college and have worked as a chemist ever since. I worked for the Cincinnati Zoo as a zoo keeper in the Childrens' Zoo through high school and college and that was my first introdution to the idea of endangered breeds of livestock and where the desire to someday have heritage breed chickens and sheep was planted. My particular interests are beekeeping, laying hens, wool sheep, riding dressage, and growing mushrooms. I also love to talk about farming and beekeeping to anyone who will sit still and listen. I'm who you will meet at the farmers' markets.
